2014 Charm swap・Kenyan Design

Kenyan Design:From cloth to silver
author : Chad
Lucky person who got this piece : Yoshiko

This is a piece that was exhibited in 2014 Charm-swap.
If you need more information of Charm-swap,
please see this page.

The title tells everything about this piece.
Chad was thought to be beautiful there Kenya cloth patterns.
He made a pendant in silver clay to give idea from there.
To imagine from the design of the patterns, probably original would be woven.
That's a ethnic style and also is the very modern geometric pattern.

Technically, the silver clay was dried in a plate shape,
and polishing the surface to the extent there are no scratches.
To draw a pattern by a pencil on the plate,
and put a masking sheet in part to leave the plane.
The space that does not put a seat,
to paint a paste-like silver clay using a paint brush.
After drying , peeling off the masking sheet.
When you are ready firing, polishing.
Pasty clay in this case is not involved in the intensity only textures.
So, it does not matter using a piece of clay
that was out in the last of the production that was dissolved in water.
It is bonded to parts and parts in paste clay technique
manual of silver clay Method which may have been introduced.
But on my experience, is to use a paste clay as glue is not recommended.
Because the strength of the work is weakened.
I think it's safe use of paste clay to the texture as in this piece.
Also, there is a technique that take out the veins
and painted many layers on the leaves of the plant.
This is a good technique of paste clay.
However, when re-use of the clay that had been old dry,
shine is dull compared to what is sold as a paste clay.
Making things, by the state to be finished
It is important to use properly.

Let's digress to work.
Edge of plate distortion asymmetrical.
This is of course the aim of the author.
Also it's possible to finish exactly, but then
It becomes an ordinary geometric patterns.
By the distortion of, ethnic image, and
the wild taste, such as if it had been excavated
from much ancient ruins applied to the piece.
Chad's design policy is "wild, masculine"
It is a perfect finish.

Well, Yoshiko, who received this
It's very gentle and Lady of feminine facial features.
Does this "wild and masculine accessories" will not suit her?
Curiously, it might rather look feminine by to wear this.
However, whether become nice if you put what extent men's item,
since due to the type of person, I want you to various experiments.

Those who make the accessories's always serious,
but we need also study the person who wear it.

Well, how to dress the Yoshiko is this?
